This day, now totally ignored, is the day Japan surrendered unconditionally to the Allied Forces, ending WWII. Who remembers being away in August, trying to find a place with a radio. Who remembers the celebrations, the hugging and kissing, the fireworks, the bananas and ice cream. "The war is over!" Shout it again and again. The caissons go rolling along, Anchors a-weigh my boys, off we go, into the wild blue yonder, From the halls of Montezuma. We won! God bless America! Kleenex! Who remembers? Because of that day we live, we have enough to eat.
Today on the radio, the tv, not a single word.
